Just east of Brooklyn Heights, and greeting those crossing the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, is the famous neighborhood of Downtown Brooklyn. Brooklyn’s financial and cultural center is intersected by the 278 Freeway and extends along Navy Street at its eastern end to Schermerhorn Street to the south.
